Your privacy should be understandable, not hidden behind vague language. This policy explains what Fortis processes, why it is needed, where information may be stored, and the choices available to you when using the Fortis mobile application and website.
1. Scope and our privacy approach
This Privacy Policy applies to the Fortis application, associated website, support forms, and related services collectively called the “Services.” Fortis is designed around data minimization: we seek to process only information reasonably required to provide security features, maintain the Services, complete purchases, answer support requests, and meet legal obligations.
Some Fortis features work locally on your device. Information that remains solely on your device is not collected by us merely because the app can display or manage it. Features, permissions, and data handling may vary by app version, device, region, and subscription.
2. Information you choose to provide
If you contact support or submit the website contact form, we receive the details you enter, such as your name, email address, subject, message, and any information you voluntarily include. Please avoid sending passwords, financial credentials, health records, or other unnecessary sensitive material in a support message.
If an account-based feature is introduced and you elect to use it, we may receive account identifiers and authentication information needed to provide that feature. The core experience does not require us to collect your full legal name, postal address, government identifier, biometric template, or payment-card number.
3. Device and technical information
To keep Fortis reliable and secure, we may receive limited technical information such as app version, device model, operating-system version, language, coarse region, installation identifier, crash details, feature events, and diagnostic timestamps. Where practical, we aggregate or pseudonymize this information and avoid collecting the contents of your protected files.
Technical events help us identify failures, understand whether features perform as intended, prevent abuse, and prioritize compatibility work. We do not use protected-file contents, private photos, contact lists, or security scan results to build advertising profiles.
4. Protected files and secure storage
Fortis may let you select photos, documents, or other supported items for protected storage. Selection is initiated by you through system pickers or permissions. Depending on the feature, those items may remain in an app-protected area on your device. We do not claim ownership of your files.
If a future optional backup or synchronization feature sends encrypted material to cloud infrastructure, Fortis will present relevant information before activation. You remain responsible for keeping an independent copy of important material and for exporting anything you need before deleting the app, resetting the device, or ending a subscription.
5. Permissions
Fortis may request access to photos, files, notifications, network information, or other device capabilities when a feature requires them. A permission request is not itself collection of every item accessible under that permission. We use granted access to perform the action you request, such as importing a selected file or notifying you about a security event.
You can review or revoke permissions in iOS settings. Disabling a required permission may limit the related feature but should not prevent you from reviewing this policy or contacting support.
6. Purchases and subscriptions
Paid plans, trials, renewals, and refunds are processed by Apple or another authorized storefront. The store may provide us with a transaction identifier, product, subscription state, country code, price tier, and purchase date so Fortis can unlock features and verify entitlement. We do not receive your complete payment-card details or store password.
7. How we use information
- Deliver, personalize, and maintain requested Fortis features;
- Detect faults, security threats, fraud, and misuse;
- Confirm subscription access and restore purchases;
- Respond to questions and provide customer support;
- Measure performance using limited, proportionate analytics;
- Comply with applicable law and enforce our agreements;
- Develop improvements using aggregated or de-identified insights.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share your protected content for cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. Service providers and disclosures
We may use carefully selected providers for hosting, diagnostics, customer support, form delivery, fraud prevention, and store services. They may process information only to perform services for us and are expected to protect it. Apple independently processes App Store activity under its own terms and privacy notices.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with a valid legal process, protect a person from harm, investigate abuse, defend legal rights, or support a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale. Where legally permitted, we will seek appropriate safeguards and provide notice of material ownership changes.
9. Retention and deletion
We retain information for no longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes described here. Support correspondence may be kept while a request is active and for a limited recordkeeping period. Transaction records may be retained to meet accounting, fraud-prevention, and legal requirements. Aggregated information that no longer identifies an individual may be retained for product analysis.
Removing Fortis deletes app-managed local data according to the operating system’s behavior, but may not remove copies you exported or records held by a storefront. You may request deletion of eligible information held by us through the contact method below.
10. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to reduce unauthorized access, alteration, loss, or disclosure. Measures may include encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege practices, and monitoring. No device, transmission, or storage system is completely secure, so Fortis cannot promise absolute protection.
11. International processing
Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. When required, we use recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual safeguards. Privacy and law-enforcement rules in those locations may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
12. Children
Fortis is not directed to children below the minimum age required to consent to digital services in their location. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information may contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
13. Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, receive, restrict, or object to processing of personal information, and to withdraw consent. You may also have a right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We may need to verify a request and may retain information where law permits or requires it.
You can also control permissions in device settings, manage subscriptions in your App Store account, and choose what content to place in protected storage.
14. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy as Fortis evolves or legal requirements change. The updated policy will display a revised date. If a change materially affects how we use information, we will provide additional notice where required.
15. Contact
Questions, privacy requests, and concerns can be submitted through the Fortis contact form. Please describe the nature of your request and the email address you used when contacting us so we can respond efficiently.
