Terms of Use

These Terms form an agreement governing access to the Fortis mobile application, website, subscriptions, support, and related services. Please read them before using Fortis.

1. Agreement to the Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, purchasing, or using Fortis, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. If you use Fortis for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. What Fortis provides

Fortis offers tools intended to help users review security status, protect supported files, manage private storage, and use other device-security features made available in the current version. Features may depend on your device, operating system, settings, country, connectivity, and plan.

Fortis is a supplementary security tool, not a guarantee that every threat, unauthorized action, loss, or vulnerability will be detected or prevented. You remain responsible for device updates, secure credentials, reliable backups, and sensible decisions about links, downloads, and communications.

3. Eligibility and device authority

You must be legally able to enter this agreement and meet the minimum age for digital services in your location. You may use Fortis only on devices and content you own or are authorized to manage. You are responsible for complying with workplace, school, family, and local rules that apply to the device.

4. Limited license

Subject to these Terms, Fortis grants you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, and non-transferable license to install and use the app for its intended purpose. This is a license, not a sale. Rights not expressly granted remain reserved.

5. Responsible use

You agree not to misuse Fortis. In particular, you must not:

  • Probe, attack, disrupt, overload, or bypass security controls of the Services;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, modify, or derive source code except where law expressly permits it;
  • Use Fortis to access, monitor, copy, or interfere with another person’s device or content without authorization;
  • Distribute malicious code or use automation to scrape or abuse the Services;
  • Remove ownership notices or falsely suggest affiliation with Fortis;
  • Use the Services in violation of law, sanctions, privacy rights, or intellectual-property rights;
  • Resell, lease, sublicense, or commercially exploit Fortis without written permission.

6. Your files and backups

You retain ownership of files you select or manage through Fortis. You grant us only the limited rights necessary to process content at your direction and provide an enabled feature. You represent that you have the right to use that content.

Maintain independent backups of important files. App removal, device loss, storage failure, system reset, an expired plan, or an unsupported update may make locally protected material unavailable. Fortis is not a substitute for a complete backup strategy.

7. Security results and decisions

Risk indicators and recommendations are informational. Threats evolve, and results can include false positives or omit a risk. You should assess context before deleting a file, changing a connection, or taking another consequential action. Fortis does not provide legal, forensic, financial, or professional cybersecurity advice.

8. Plans, trials, and billing

Some functionality may require a subscription or one-time purchase. The offer screen describes the price, billing interval, included features, and trial terms before purchase. Taxes and currency conversion may apply.

Unless the offer says otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically until canceled through the account settings of the store that processed the purchase. Deleting Fortis does not itself cancel a subscription. Cancel before the renewal deadline shown by the store to avoid the next charge. Refunds, payment failures, and billing disputes are handled under the storefront’s rules and applicable law.

9. Updates and changes

We may release fixes, enhancements, or security updates. Continued compatibility can require a current app and operating-system version. We may add, change, limit, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary for security, law, platform requirements, product development, or operations. We will provide notice where required.

10. Third-party platforms and services

Fortis may interact with Apple services, device APIs, hosting providers, support tools, or third-party links. Those services are controlled by others and may have separate terms. We are not responsible for third-party availability, content, account decisions, or changes beyond our reasonable control.

11. Intellectual property

Fortis software, visual design, branding, text, graphics, and underlying technology are owned by Fortis or its licensors and protected by applicable law. Feedback you voluntarily provide may be used to improve the Services without obligation to you, provided we do not publicly identify you without permission.

12. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Fortis at any time. We may restrict or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, create security or legal risk, fail to pay an applicable fee, or if a service is discontinued. Provisions that by their nature should survive—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms—remain effective after termination.

13. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, Fortis is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that Fortis will detect every threat, restore every file, or remain compatible with every configuration. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fortis and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential loss, or for lost data, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, or business interruption arising from the Services. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to Fortis will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Fortis in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim or USD 50.

These limits do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, including rights available under mandatory consumer law.

15. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and hold Fortis harmless from third-party claims resulting from your unlawful use, unauthorized content, or material breach of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from Fortis’s own conduct.

16. Governing principles and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the Fortis service provider, excluding conflict-of-laws principles, while preserving mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence. Before filing a formal claim, please contact us and provide a concise description so the parties can attempt a good-faith resolution.

17. General terms

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be adjusted only as necessary and the remainder will continue. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it as part of a reorganization or sale, subject to applicable law. These Terms and referenced policies form the entire agreement concerning the Services.

18. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. A revised effective date will appear above, and additional notice will be provided where required. Questions can be submitted through the Fortis contact form.
